I'm posting for a colleague, interested in how others handle inventory issues in a multiple facility environment...

 

 Subject:  Off-site inventories

 

For those hospitals with multiple facilities under one MM database, I am hoping someone has a solution or workaround to the problem we have been having.  We have 5 hospitals (all within the same MM database) with one housing the main supplying inventory.  The other 4 hospitals are 30 to 50 miles from the main hospital.  Our predicament is that when users post an inventory requisition for off-site inventories, Meditech adds quantity to the off-site inventory and relieves the main inventory.  The problem with this is that the stock might not be delivered immediately (could be up to two days) to the off-site inventory, thus throwing counts for both inventories off.  How do you handle the process of off-site inventories ordering stock that might not be delivered immediately from the supplying inventory?
