FYI. The OE to MM interface is VERY difficult to set up, and at this time there is only one facility even attempting it (so I've heard - From Meditech) Meditech themselves will steer you away from using the OE-MM interface. (I know....I tried....)
It is correct that EDM does not interface to MM (yet). Maybe someday it will? However, in the mean time, I would propose that your ED charges be reviewed to make sure they accommodate the ED supplies used in patient care. To my recollection, there are very few "materials" items that you can charge for separately during an ED visit. The only one that comes to mind for me is DERMABOND, which is billed out of PHA/Pyxis. One facility I worked with used the yellow stickies in the ED....then that became too cumbersome (you know, keeping track of all the cards, back end data entry, stickers going home on jackets, etc)...so stickies went away, housewide, and manual stock counts and reordering went into affect. ED procedures that used supplies were reviewed to make sure the charge covered the "usual and customary" supplies used during that ED procedure.

We are going live with EDM on 8/29/06. We have been told that there is
not integration between EDM and MM but there is between OE and MM. We
are trying to figure out a way that MM could be notified that supplies
have been used. Right now MM comes and counts supplies to restock. If
you are up with EDM and have better way and are willing to share, I
would be glad to hear from you. Thanks Susan
