The best method that I am aware of for prompting nursing users to remove a medication patch is to create a drug such as “remove patch”. This order can be assigned a specific schedule. It should not be given an EMR ID and should be built so that it does not charge the patient. I recommend including this item as part of an order set for your patches so that the end user does not forget to order it along with the patch.
