We require diagnoses on all scheduled orders. We have 3 RNs that are on the 
front end that scrub all medicare orders. We have also trained reg staff to 
check on all walk-ins. The RNs also check anything on the backend if it has 
failed to catch them before the bills go out the door.

This is for Magic and C/S.  Regardless of whether you use Meditech's Meditech 
Necessity checking or a third-party's product, how do you get the correct CPT 
codes and DX codes during registration so the checking can be done before the 
patient gets to the clinical area?  Do you have a clinical person involved from 
the beginning?  Have you managed to persuade your doctors' offices to furnish 
all these codes with the order?  Are you doing the checking during scheduling 
or any pre- functions?

Our process needs an over-haul, so anything anybody has to offer will be 
greatly appreciated!
