In regards to the UB04 there has been information presented by Meditech and 3M regarding a new present on admission indicator.
The reform information presented per the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DEFRA LAW) - will require a 'present on admission' indicator for each secondary diagnosis to be reported beginning in October 2007. Since this will impact coders and hospital processes directly, I was wondering what other Health Information Management departments are doing to collect this information ahead of time and if this is being done in the Case Mix/Abstract module.
I would appreciate any additional information other organizations may have regarding the collection of the POA indicator.
