Lea, I understand you feel this is a step backwards, but the problem with Print Profile is there is a MINIMUM one page per patient. That is not practical for a med-surg nurse with 6-9 patients. I too am writing an NPR report for shift change. In an ideal world, the Nursing status board should meet all their needs, but nurses need something to take notes on throughout the shift and this is why we agreed to create a report with 4-6 patients per page. NO matter how techno-savvy we become, nurses will still need the old pen and paper for sometime to come. We are, however, going to keep our report minimal and force the nurse to the computer for labs, tests, etc. Good Luck!! All messages should be posted in plain text. HTML will be converted to attachments. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== All, I am having issues with our nursing staff because they are not happy with the current documentation that they use for reporting on patients between shifts. They originally had a manual process using a tri-fold Cardex that they would write information on. This then changed to a JOT sheet printed from Meditech that listed the patients on the units and their information from the system. We now have print profiles set up in Meditech and they were using a Cardex printed from a patient profile, but now are not happy with that. New issue is that they want me to create an NPR report to pull patient information, but be similar to their original tri-fold Cardex they could write on. I feel we are taking a step backwards and need to utilize the Print Patient Profile function to obtain all the orders in the system and ensure the nurses on the last shift actually entered orders as requested. I'm not sure which way we should go with this request from here. What are other hospitals doing to handle reports between nurses during shift change??? Thank you in advance for any and all responses.
