Question to those hospital which are live with BMV, and DO NOT have 24 hour
pharmacy coverage.

Do your nurses do chart checks and 24 hour chart checks?

Who enters your medication orders during off pharmacy hours?

Are all meds entered, or only those which will need to be given during the
off hours?

If only a select group of meds are entered, how are your nurses handling 24
hour and chart checks of the meds not entered onto the MAR?

This process is posing a big problem for us, as no one seems to have a good
solution how to handle this. Nursing does not want to check charts and sign
off on them if not all the meds are on the EMAR. And worse, once they check
and verify the meds which they placed on the EMAR, and pharmacy comes in and
verifies those orders, they have to re-acknowledge those meds again. Double
work for already overworked and frustrated nurses. 24 hour checks are even
worse as this is the last check of orders, and not all meds orders will be
available.

Thanks in advance for all your help
