We discovered an issue with the reception routine in EDM and specifically the field Stated Complaint. The Stated Complaint populates the ADM field Reason for Visit which then feeds the EMR. This is the pt's stated complaint in their own words and is inappropriate to be used over a Chief Complaint chosen by a Medical Professional. The industry best practice standards dictated that the patients Stated Complaint be captured and retained, but attaching it to all documentation over the Chief Complaint just doesn't make sense. Have other facilities found this to be an issue and how you have addresses this issue? TIA.
