We are using the product but Scanning and Archiving is not an electronic
medical record solution. It is the repository for what Meditech calls
the e-Chart which is analogous to the paper chart in Medical Records.

The actual "Electronic Medical Record" that can be accessed by
Physicians and Clinicians is Meditech's EMR Application.

The difference as I see it is that the e-Chart is used primarily by HIM
as the official legal Medical Record whereas the EMR is the "live"
user-friendly electronic record. The EMR is what you would think of when
someone refers to the Electronic Medical Record.

To answer your question, the e-Chart and the EMR combined provide the
total solution. Hope this helps...

We are looking at Meditech's Scanning and Archiving product with the
intention of implementing a full electronic medical record. Is there
anyone in Health Information Management currently using the product as a
total electronic medical record solution?

Thank You
