Joe, Yes, I do see the accurate transfer data in "Review Patient Activity" in ADM. On a recent NPR report, I was also forced to use PHA transfer index which I thankfully learned about from one of your Meditech-L postings. I pointed out to Meditech that they were inconsistently storing the transfer data from one module to the next. Here is what their final response was:
"Good morning Tom, after considerable review and discussion by programming, it has been determined that the system is functioning as designed. As previously discussed there are various options available for you to capture that data in other ways. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns at this time. Thanks!" Pretty pathetic! Please test and give me youropinion? Tom, I have found at a couple of Magic ABS sites that the ABS location history is not accurate. The way I did this was to write a report that uses the ABS location data to build an "as of" census per location, based on a date and time, then ran the report for 0000. and then compared to the standard report in ADM. I was forced to use the PHA transfer index to reconstruct the location census beyond the ADM purge. The problem with the PHA transfer index is that a transfer from one bed to another in the same room is not tracked, so you cannot reconstruct a census down to the bed level, only to the room level. I don't know if this issue has been fixed. A change IN to OBS is retro to admission date, but it does not change the locations a patient has moved thru, so you've got a bug regardless of what MT is claiming. Don't you see the accurate transfer history in the "Review Patient Activity" and on the transfer report in ADM ? How do they explain that discrepancy? Please test and give me youropinion? I am looking for your opinion: We are a Meditech Magic 5.4 site. I feel I have identified a serious problem with the location history in ABS. Meditech says it is not a problem and has "determined that the system is functioning as designed." I would like you to do the following in TEST Meditech and tell me whether you notice a problem. 1. In ADM, register an Inpatient using routine "13. Admission". 2. Wait a minute. Check the patient's location history in ABS using routine "View Patient Abstract - Consults, Svcs, SCU's and Locations". You should see 1 location for this patient that matches what you just entered in ADM. 3. In ADM, transfer the patient to a totally DIFFERENT location (don't just change rooms) using routine "24. Transfer". 4. Wait a minute. In ABS, check the patient's location history using routine "Consults, Svcs, SCU's and Locations". You should clearly see that the patient was in one location and then transferred to another location. 5. In ADM, change the patient to an observation patient using routine "24. Change In To Observation Patient". 6. Wait a minute. In ABS, check the patient's location history using routine "Consults, Svcs, SCU's and Locations". In ABS, did you just lose the original location entered in Step #1? If yes, you are experiencing what is happening in our system and I would like to know if you think this a problem? I should note that Meditech has added DTSs to fix ABS location issues, but they did not resolve this issue.
