We do rely on the "Auto Close" successfully, with the exception of the
"Open Cash Drawer" holding the close. All other issues are handled with
copy feature for other "OPEN" journals. This remains our only issue with
"Auto Close".

We have asked Meditech to create a special alert feature to notify the
on-call person. The custom alert will be "Day End Close held for Open
Cash Window".

Meditech proposed an alert "Midnight Processing has not completed" with
no reason, we did not accept their proposal.

Also, we do have a policy and procedure in place for the ADM ER 11-7
Registrar to check the routine, but again it is a compliance issue.

What does everybody do (discipline-wise) when a cash drawer prevents
auto close from finishing? This is a BIG issue for me because we have
many scheduled reports that rely on the close of day to kick off. I
can't seem to impress the culprits with the importance of this.

We also use the Meditech's Auto Close and it works out really great.
The night Switchboard operators monitor it to make sure that day is
actually closed every night. The only set back is if a Cash drawer
remains it has to be manually closed in order for the day to close.

We have used Meditech's Auto Close process for several years now with
great success.

We're interested in hearing from MAGIC hospitals that use the B/AR
Auto-Close functionality. We currently use a scripting solution for our
day close, along with a number of other functions, and we're considering
going to the Auto-Close instead.
