Donna - I attempted this convesion in test back in March and there were
several problems, especially with the mapping from generic, class, and
ingredient to the proper allergen. For instance, I had Cipro in Dextrose as
a generic allergy on a test patient. After mapping, they had 50 different
concentrations of Dextrose listed as allergens. Also, if you would enter
Cipro with Dextrose as an allergen, any time you chose Dextrose, it would
flag you for an allergy.
FDB has cleaned up their files and Meditech has done some fixes. I just
spoke with Mark Donovan and there is one user live with it with no problems.
Bottom line, play with it in test, then move to live if you see no problems.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] PHA 5.5 FDB load version 1 vs. version 2
Good Morning L,
We are going to 5.5 SR2 in November and in reviewing the PHA enhancements
are considering implementing version 2 of the First Data Bank load to
incorporate the new allergy management processes. Since this is an
optional enhancement, we are not planning to bring it up at the same time
we take our update. Is there a Client Server site that has already been
through this conversion that could discuss the advantage/disadvantages
with us? We are also curious about how long the conversion took since the
Enter/Edit Allergies routines will not be available while the conversion
is taking place. Meditech also tells us that once this is implemented, we
can't go back to our prior processes, so we'd like to hear what other
sites' experience has been before making this decision. As ever, we
appreciate the resource of the experts on the "L".
Thanks for your responses,
