We went LIVE with EDM 5.5 today. Prior to LIVE, we had been advised by
the Meditech EDM implementation group to contact our LAB support to
request new LAB label format keywords for the specific EDM Emerg
locations and bed locations. We went through the custom request process
and received the label keywords. In test they seemed to work just fine.

Today, LIVE date, we have had all sorts of LAB label printing issues
from being kicked to good-bye to labels taking well over 10 times
longer to print, to weird characters displaying in the "printing"
message at the bottom of the screen. Some labels have printed OK and
some have looked like they would print but never show up on the printer
(Meditech Heaven is full of Lakeridge Health lab labels today).

After numerous troubleshooting attempts by us and Meditech, Meditech's
response is that we will have to start using NUI in the lab. Part of
the problem apparently is that the EDM keywords have resulted in
fragments jumping from the LAB label routines to EDM. Of course, EDM
is one of those new applications that Meditech enforces the use of NUI.
Attempting to run EDM with Workstation 3 results in a simple "Error
message" indicating you need at least Workstation 4. The lab is
currently using Workstation 3 and there will be a rebellion if we
announce that they will have to start using NUI, let alone start using
it immediately.

Although we haven't even come close to putting the amount of heat on
Meditech that we intend to in order to fix this, I wanted to find out
from this group if any other facilities with EDM have implemented lab
label keywords for EDM locations and have come across this same issue.
If so, did you get it resolved and if so, how?

In the meantime....we have temporarily removed the keywords and are
rolling up our sleeves for a good battle.
