Jeanne: I can provide an update on this.....

The proposed HSCRC POA regulations, along with the newly released NUBC POA
Guidelines have both been submitted to Meditech and QuadraMed.

Meditech has this in our Test System & QuadraMed has POA fields in a release
that is due out at the end of the year.... (Quantim 6.4)

Another issue is that the HSCRC proposed regs are NOT consistent with the NUBC
POA Guidelines..... George Arges, Chairman, NUBC has submitted his
recommendation to HSCRC that they adopt the NUBC guidelines - we (Washington
County Hospital) also submitted a letter of recommendation to HSCRC..... The
comment period is open until 11/27/06 -- and hopefully, HSCRC will revise
their proposed regs. HSCRC's Tape Specs has the effective date of 2/12/07.

So, at this point, I have been in a "wait & see" mode... waiting for the
conclusion of the comment period.

Hope this helps......
Has anyone heard anything more recent ??

Thanks,

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] FW: HSCRC Proposal to Collect Information on
DiagnosesPresent on Admission -- ACTION REQUESTED

  Good morning!

Please see the anticipated HSCRC regulatory changes expected with January 1
discharges. We should discuss how we can best capture the data. I think a field
next to each code in the encoder; create a default of "present on admission"
which can be easily changed; add to the Quantum interface and to diagnosis
screen in Meditech. Some of this can be automated with the code list that is
developed by AHIMA/NUBC/AHA.

Thoughts? Has anyone connected Meditech in regards to this issue yet?

  Thank you,

  Jeanne
