We obtained a "Software Developers Kit" from Welch-Allyn for our "Welch-Allyn Spot Monitors" and I am in the process of developing an in-house solution. So far it is working smoothly and I hope to be finished and have it implemented soon.
I believe that Welch-Allyn has recently started marketing a "ready made" HL7 solution, but I don't know all of the details on this product. If you department lacks the skills required, you may want to look into that product. I also know that Iatrics has used the SDK to interface for another hospital in our area.
