My experience has been that a physician order to hold order is an order to discontinue-unless the order is accompanied by a specified time, in which case, the order is deactivated for the specified time and then queued to be reactivated at the designated time. The uncertainty about hold orders have been more PIS (Pharmacy Information System) specific; does the PIS use (or have functionality) on DA (deactivate) and RA (reactivate) commands? For example, some clients that use Meditech's Client Server do not have RA or DA functionality.
