We have the problem too ... The trick is to put a white sheet of paper under the bag. Then, role the barcode to the side of the bag to reduce the space between the barcode and the white paper. Scan it with a slow pass from top to bottom of barcode. It may take a couple passes, but with patience you can get to scan. It also help to do this shortly after taking the bag out of its package...the longer you wait the poorer the barcode quality.
