Hi Tara,

Our Anesthesia staff also does not use ORM. Some of their meds are charged
through Pyxis when the remove them from there, but Pharmacy as also put
together an Anesthesia drug box with a tear-off lock (like crash carts) with a
narcotics sign out sheet and charge sheet. They hand write their charges and
return the used box to Pharmacy daily. Pharmacy enters the charges for the
Anesthesia Drug box and restocks and locks it for the next use. Their
documentation is all on paper so none of it, including medications, goes to our
EMR. The Anesthesia record is scanned (ImageNow system) and linked to the
patient so it is viewable using a link from the patient's EMR.

We are CS 5.5 and going live March 1st. I keep looking at everyone's responses
in ORM that anesthesia will not be using ORM. How then is anesthesia getting
their medications charges through and how are you handling the anesthesia
medication administration so that it is available in the EMR?

We are looking at bringing up our OR in the Meditech OR module. What we are
wondering what other Meditech facilities are using for Anesthesia and PACU for
their documentation ?
