We've been *LIVE with a Lifescan Glucometer Interface via Telcor
with our 2 hospitals & Primary Care sites since March 2002.
The POCT setup has been something our NYS inspector has been raving
about it this past years & suggesting a similar POCT model to other hospitals.

I will be happy to talk to you about it.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] bar coding

I am required to develop and implement bar coding at a 200 bed community
hospital. Our information system is
Meditech Client Server. The patient care module will be installed and then
the bedside verification using my brooding for nursing. I would like to
establish best practices in whatever processes I develop.

Can anyone provide me advice on how best to implement this process? Also,
I am trying to resolve the following questions:

1. How much area of the pharmacy should be allocated to bar coding process
in order to assure enough space?

2. Range of required FTE time to develop and implement the brooding?
        pharmacist time........................
        tech time....................................

3. Range of FTE time to preform daily functions of brooding once the
process is established?

4. Range of cost of equipment/supplies necessary to establish brooding.

Thanks very much for any advice/thoughts.

Hi all,
We are in the process of converting our Nursing units from hand written MARs to
Meditech's eMAR and BMV (bedside medication verification.) With the advent of
the eMAR, the speed and accuracy of the Pharmacists' order entry has become
critical. We would like to find a Pharmacy consultant who can help us evaluate
our Pharmacy operation, Pharmacists' workflow and staffing levels. Experience
with eMAR is essential. Any recommendations?

Good Morning everyone!

I am sending this question for a co-worker. Has anyone out there been
able to pull a diet order from Order Entry or Order Management into a
nursing CDS? If so, we would be very interested in hearing from you.

Thank you,

Thanks to all who responded to my request about Emergency Department
systems. I keep hearing rumors of hospitals who have installed Meditech's
EDM and have or getting ready to de-install. I have also heard of hospitals
who have bought, but have clinicians who refuse to use the system. We are
in the process of looking at EDM systems and I would like to talk to anyone
who falls into these categories to understand why.

Also if there is a hospital that is using Meditech's EDM and have all nurses
using the system, and just as importantly have all doctors using the system
I would like to talk to you.

If you fall into any of these categories please e-mail me with contact
information and I will call you.

I don't know if this is unique at our facility or not, but our employees accrue
PTO (paid time off) hours throughout the year. An employee can use this PTO as
they need it or they can "cash" it in. If they cash it in, it is paid at their
current rate of pay. There's where the concern lies....the PTO may have been
earned at a lower rate of pay but paid at a higher rate of pay because they can
"cash" it in after an annual pay raise. Does anybody have any ideas how these
earned hours could be paid at the rate they were when they were accrued?

Hi Dianna,
We are currently documenting all Pre-op Assessments in ORM. We created
CDS's for these Assessments and have created CDS Tabs as part of the
Surgical Profile for several areas as well. So far this has worked fine
for us and all documentation is part of the Surgical Profile in the
EMR.
Good Luck.

Hi All, I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has pre-op
documentation done in ORM. Currently we are dcumenting all pre-ops in
PCS and they would like to move their documentation to ORM. What

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Fellow L'ers

I am looking for facilities that are currently interfacing their
glucometer handheld devices with Meditech. The ideal facility would
be using the Lifescan handheld glucometer device and have their
interface through TELCOR. However, the interface is not as important
as having a LIfescan device talking with Meditech.

If you are such a facility, I would like to speak to you, and perhaps
arrange a site visit. Thanks in advance,

For Magic clients what Virtual faxing solution do you use that routes all

It's that time of year again and I am hoping to recruit some great users
that want to share what they have done at their facilities with our user
group.

I also would like to know of any interests that others might have for
topics you would like to discuss during our jam session.

Our meeting is as good as YOU the user gets involved. EVEN the simplest
of things may be very useful for others that have not thought of that
idea at their facility!

Let me hear from you if you want to share your ideas.

Thanks,

Tammy

Good Afternoon,

We are experiencing response time issues with our PCI application since

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I am not sure if I am going to word this correctly but I will try. I need
to be able to look at patient activity as for as drg information being
updated from ABS or other activity on the account. It does not look like
the bar activity index is going to list the activity from ABS on the
patient. Is there anyway to get to that information? The report has to run
