Hi, Mattie,

At Colquitt, we have not begun HIM scanning yet (it's in the pipeline).
Currently, a PFS supervisor is responsible for pulling paper records and
making copies. In PFS, that's not a popular decision, but HIM is
understaffed and that's the arrangement they worked out. Once the
records are electronic, the HIM and PFS directors are going to have to
determine how easy it will be for HIM to print the PFS requests and then
decide whether to allow PFS to have access. I imagine that at least the
PFS supervisors will have access to the scanned records.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] PFS Access to Medical Records

Our PFS department is inquiring as to how other organizations handle
requests for Medical Records to complete the billing process.
Specifically are all requests made through Medical Records or does the
PFS staff have access to printed scanned Medical Record data?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
