Thanks for all the responses. I set the max dose field to 100000 and they
get the warning, max dispensing dose exceeded, continue? Only one person
chose to ignore the warning in the last 3 days. I will pursue custom to make
this an error rather than a warning if it is still an issue. Many of you
responded saying this is an education issue. I agree, but since we are not
set to admin billing, it does not cause a problem with the bills. I think
that over charging the patient by thousands of dollars probably puts an end
to this issue.

Thanks

Tara

Tara, We are up on bmv also, and use nf, the same way. Check page 2 in
the customer define parameter of pharmacy. There is a max dose qty and
max dose dispense qty setting. Another thing, you might build a rule and
attach in pharmacy for max dose.
Thanks,
Becky

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] BMV-scanning the NDC/RX into the dose field

Hi All,
Since going live with BMV, we have not been able to prevent the
nurses from scanning the RX or NDC into the dose field. This is not for
every med.
It happens with our 0 dose and with Non-formulary meds( we have a med
named non-form and we put the med into the dose instructions.) I run a
report everyday to check for errors. I also taught the nurses how to run
an admins by user report so they can simply check their meds for any big
numbers. They do not all do it and I am the one worried about what the
chart will look like. What are others doing about this? I don't want to
send out a mean message telling them this could affect their license and
it is also not fair to them because I am not able to program something
into meditech to prevent these kinds of errors. Any suggestions?

Thanks
