FYI ~ There are specific Medicare regulations about Pt Status changes and the timing of when they are made......
See Medicare Transmittal 299, Change Request 3444, dated 9/10/2004; This transmittal states a change in Pt Status from Inpt to Outpt must be done while the patient is still inhouse. Hope this helps...... Patti ----- Original Message ----- From: Deanna Ramirez To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2007 4:01 PM Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Status Changes on Discharged Patients? Currently, if Access Services receives a request to change a patient status post-discharge, anywhere from 30 days to several months, they must Undo the patient's discharge and return the patient to the bed last occupied in Meditech. This means temporarily transferring any current patient out of the bed, discharging any other patients that occupied the bed in-between, and performing the status change. It is a lengthy, confusing process and it impacts some other systems interfaced with Meditech negatively. For example, in NLMC it causes all patients' which previously occupied the bed to be brought back into the QS system. This is confusing for staff and causes these patients not to archive without manual intervention. We believe Pxyis may be affected by these transactions as well. Is any other facility resolving this problem in another manner? If yes, how did they resolve the problem, perhaps through customization, or use of another module such as Medical Records?
