Deanna, Please post whatever responses you get. Sorry to send your question down a rabbit trail, but you mentioned Pyxis. Pyxis IS affected as well. We struggle with this too. I've seen a single patient active in Pyxis with up to 15 different account numbers, some from 2-3 years ago. With non-profile Pyxis units such as anesthesia machines and ER, it's too easy for a nurse to pull meds against the wrong account number, since they commonly don't use the account number as a second check like policy dictates. I'm attempting to track these. In February, we had over 600 override transactions from Pyxis attributed to the wrong account number. You can imagine how much fun it is to reconcile this mess...
Alan Miller, RPh Patient Care Information Systems Catawba Valley Medical Center Hickory, NC 28602 >>> "Deanna Ramirez" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 03/20/2007 04:01 PM >>> Currently, if Access Services receives a request to change a patient status post-discharge, anywhere from 30 days to several months, they must Undo the patient's discharge and return the patient to the bed last occupied in Meditech. This means temporarily transferring any current patient out of the bed, discharging any other patients that occupied the bed in-between, and performing the status change. It is a lengthy, confusing process and it impacts some other systems interfaced with Meditech negatively. For example, in NLMC it causes all patients' which previously occupied the bed to be brought back into the QS system. This is confusing for staff and causes these patients not to archive without manual intervention. We believe Pxyis may be affected by these transactions as well. Is any other facility resolving this problem in another manner? If yes, how did they resolve the problem, perhaps through customization, or use of another module such as Medical Records?
