In our state we cannot charge for one financial class of patients who
have their labs sent to a reference lab. I have been working with
Meditech for 6 weeks on a charge rule written in lab that will send the
test to BAR but apply a $0.00 charge and then allow for the CPT code to
cross to ABS-because we will be maintaining the results of the tests so
ABS has to code the record. The latest rule we tried sends a general
bill code to BAR with one description-reference test-no charge and a
zero dollar amount. The problem is that BAR can't see the test and there
is no associated CPT code. Has anyone out there successfully written a
rule (in either BAR or LAB) that displays the test and CPT code in BAR,
but a zero dollar amount for a specific financial class? Hopefully
without writing a rule for every test in the LAB dictionary....
