Hi Karen, We are currently live with 7 inpatient areas on the eMAR and BMV and using FLO carts and tethered Metrologic Focus scanners. Just recently we have been testing the wireless version of the scanner in the pharmacy and the ICU and so far the staff really likes it.
There is a USB connector that attaches to the PC and talks directly to the scanner-that specific scanner and PC. The scanner has quite a range (about 30 meters I think.) You will want to consider the issue of interference between scanners if each one is not setup to connect to a specific PC. We are wondering if anyone is using a wireless barcode scanner successfully in this scenario? If so, what scanner and can this be moved from one PC to another or strictly just for that one room.
