RE: [MEDITECH-L] Can Clinical Analyst Report to Nursing Dept.?

Regardless of who a clinical analyst reports to or what department their
pay is counted against, they must have a strong working relationship
between IT and Nursing to be successful. They must have a solid
understanding of the nursing process and how different designs of nursing
documentation can impact that process and staff job satisfaction as well
as supporting legal and regulatory requirements. However, they also must
have a thorough understanding of the strengths and capabilities of the
computerized system they work with if they are to leverage it to its
fullest potential. Because Nurses and Techies talk different languages,
the clinical analyst becomes the essential translator between the two. So,
even in larger hospitals it is not helpful to have an “us” and “them”
mentality!

In a small hospital that only has one Clinical Analyst……could that
Clinical Analyst (that is in charge of the NUR, OE, PCI and NPR modules)
report to the Nursing Department…..or….do they need to be in the IT
Department?

Thanks,
