I would like to display patient date of birth in the canned comment when a user calls critical results.
The user has the enter results screen pulled up and has a canned comment displayed, where the call is documented. We are now required to verify patient date of birth when we call criticals. I can't come up with a convenient way for the user to obtain DOB while at the same time trying to document the critical call. So, I was hoping to pulled dob into the canned text. When I have the critical call screen displayed, I can't branch to EMR or use session management to open another desktop. It seems to me I would have to give the users a view into ADM or MRI to get at DOB. That would certainly make calling criticals take longer. Is this possible to pull the DOB into the canned comment? Otherwise, what do you think would be the quickest way to find DOB?
