Do any of you use a program to match bar codes on IV's (or other drugs) with
bar codes on labels? I'm thinking of the kind of program used in retail
pharmacies in which a bar code is generated on the prescription label with the
drug's NDC, which is subsequently scanned for a match with the bar code on the
original container for the drug. Typically the program produces a different
tone for no match as opposeed to match. The same principle can be applied to
IV's that are not compounded. A bar code of the NDC number on the label can be
matched electonically with the bar code on the bag. Are any of you doing it? If
so,does it require third-party software or are you doing it through Meditech.
We are Magic, soon to be 5.6. Thanks for your help in advance.
