Hi All: We are currently testing magic 5.61 (with a priority pack of 4).
We are having issues with Meditech to changes that have been made in how the IV order types function. In our system we have the majority of our IV order types set as follows: Max Carriers 2 Rate Unit Dispense By SIG Order By VOL Dft From 1st ADD Define By VOL IV Site Req? N Calculate By DUR Ask Weight? N Additional Vol (mls Return To Inv? Y Use Drip Unit? Return Fee Route Of Admin IV Dose Check By SIG Max Duration Currently, if we need to edit the rate, then the duration changes appropriately. If we need to edit the duration, then the rate changes appropriately. The ordered volume has never changed. We wouldn't want it to since the actual IV is not going to change in how we mix it (ie: Cefazolin in 50ml D5W will always have the same volume). In 5.6, no matter how we set up the order type for ivs, if either the rate or the duration is edited, it is not the other field that is recalculated, it is the ordered volume field that is recalculated. Despite what we say to Meditech, they say this is a change in functionality in 5.6 and the system is "working as designed". If we want the system to function as it always has, we must submit a custom. Is there anyone out there who has gone to 5.6 and dealt with this issue? Were you able to convince Meditech that the functionality change is not desirable for all facilities? We are concerned about med errors if a rate or duration is changed and the other is not automatically changed (ie: dose is administed too fast/too slow). Suggestions? Comments?
