There is a custom available.. we saw it on the L... we do not have it yet.. we are combining it with a custom lookup that "forces'" users to see the group and other identifying info that would help. Here is brief info on one of the customs. the cost is $2000 and I'm not sure they have it working in POM yet. We came across this issue on the Meditech-l list server. It was originally developed for C/S, but we would like to have it for our Magic system.
The customer asked Meditech for a custom to the Provider Dictionary. Meditech added a custom field: Check for Duplicate Last Name. The customer choose which providers should be flagged; i.e. those that we know staff are sometimes selecting the wrong provider. They can remove the flag at any time; for example if one of the similar name physicians leaves - then the warning would no longer come up. The warning message that you see at the bottom pops up as a reminder to staff to verify they have selected the right physician for those physicians that we have identified as a potential selection error. This warning message comes up for ordering, admissions, etc. The only module this custom does not work in is POM. Then again, I suggest Tasers!!!
