Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Inpatient/Out Patient/Obs patient and
recording/reclassifying revenue

I wanted to poll other hospitals in terms of best practices for the
following scenario :

If a patient is registered as an Observation patient and generates charges
over a day (after B/AR day close) and then the decision is made to convert
this patient to Inpatient, the system doesn't repoint the revenue if the
patient's account type is switched after the close day.

In our system, OBS patients are assigned to the Account Type=OBS with a GL
Rev Comp=04. Inpatients are assigned to the Account Type=INP with a GL Rev
Comp=01.

Is there a recommended practice to handle this situation? Please advise.
