David, You may want to use a scripting language, such as VBScript to parse out the information. You can read in the file line by line and parse each line as you are reading it using string functions (left, right, mid). Hope that helps

Ultimately I plan to script the extracted data into meditech using BWS. But first I have to parse these 100 mile long lines of data. Does anyone have experience parsing info out of a line this long? If so, how??!! When I import a line into excel, it puts the whole 23K line into cell A1, which of course does me no good. Any ideas...? TIA.
