To do User Mnemonics again here is what we would do - and there is no
way around the divorce, new last name issue others pointed out.

We wish we had used the same name they gave Payroll, but we missed that
opportunity.

CLLLFFFXX

C is for the Corporation, we started as one and then acquired another -
so good to plan for

LLL is the first 3 of their last name with no special characters, X
filled if only 2 letter last name

FFF is the first 3 of their first name

XX is for duplicates i.e. NRENMIC1 would be used if NRENMIC has already
been issued and another comes along

88 is used for students, 99 for duplicate access for the same staff with
different access etc.

For device names, we set up a standard for all devices, not just PC's

SCDDDDNN

S is for site as we have 8 different physical hospitals and that helps
route the site tech to fix things

C is for PC, D is for Dot Maxtrix, P is for laser printer I is for Lab
Interface etc.

DDDD is the 4 letter code for the department from MIS - a Canadian
standard - not as useful as we had hoped

NN is the number of the device and we zero filled i.e. the first would
be 01 and the tenth would be 10

We have them well trained now and get voice mail like this.

"Hi this is SELJEF from the Lab and device WPLABO07 has a paper jam we
cannot fix."

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Suggestions for user mnemonics and pc hostnames

We just signed with Meditech C/S and looking at MIS training in
September. Are there any facilities that have suggestions for user
mnemonics and pc hostnames? Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Things to watch out for are of particular interest, also.

Another item, is anyone using the Meditech mnemonic tied to Network
username for single sign-on? What are your thoughts, experiences with
that?

Thanks in advance.
