Ron,
I am in the pharmacy dept. but have attended report writer
classes at various MUSE conferences. I was given access to NPR report
writer on a modified menu. I have not created menus and such so that
access has not been given to me, but the arrangement has worked out
pretty well I think. It has definitely given me a better understanding
of the PHA and RXM modules and how they pass and receive information
from other modules, and I just recently have become good enough to write
my first fragment reports that actually started in ADM.PAT and
fragmented out to RXM.RX and PHA.RX for medication reconciliation using
the RXM module. So from the other end of the question, it can be a big
benefit for the department if you can get someone who is motivated,
reasonable enough to know their limits, and properly trained.

Subject: Re: [MEDITECH-L] Report writer access
We do allow access outside of our IS/IT department but we usually
restrict them to their own module or what they may need to link to and
not to all.

We've had a request at our hospital for someone in the QRM department to
get trained on and be given access to the NPR report writer. Just
wondering how other hospitals handle these types of requests? Do you
allow employees outside of IT access to the report writer?
