We ran into the exact same problem a few months ago -- the fourth digit of the Type of Bill field was truncating. The solution was in the definition of the UB04 form in the Electronic Forms section of the Spooling System Dictionary menu in MIS. The edge-to-edge override o ption is key and this is not available on the HP 4250. My recommendation i s to save yourself many more headaches and purchase the HP9050n. A bit mor e costly, but worth the money. Following the purchase of 4 of these, we no longer have issues with printing the UB04. I am new to this list, and I hope that this issue has not b een covered already. I have noticed a few posts concerning UB04 printing, and also settings that have worked for other organizations. I have also se en the Meditech Knowledge Base articles on this. I have run into a problem that I believe may be a problem across the spectrum for people who are usi ng HP LaserJet 4250's to print their UB04's. I have been able to configure our 4250's to print "correctl y" using slightly different settings that Meditech recommends. Nevertheles s, I ran into a problem that either Meditech is unaware of, or one that sho uld prompt them to update their online documentation. According to our bil ling specialist, everybody will soon be required to use a 4-digit code for Type Of Bill (the field at the top-right of the UB04L form). Currently, Me ditech on our system is configured to use a 3-digit field, and these claims are printing without any problem. However, when we use a 4-digit field fo r this field, the 4th character gets truncated. After a few hours of messi ng with settings, along with a call to HP Technical Support, I am thoroughl y convinced that this is a limitation on the "standard" HP LaserJet 4250 pr inters. I was told by HP that in order to use the "edge-to-edge" printing feature, we would have to purchase an additional proprietary compact flash card from HP at the cost of $750 a card (not sure if that was MSRP or true retail). There is no mention in Meditech's knowledge base that this specif ic option is REQUIRED by Meditech to get these things to print correctly. My question to the outside world is this: Are your claims p rinting correctly using a 4-digit field for Type of Bill? If so, do you ha ve the compact flash card option from HP? Any input or discussion would be greatly appreciated, and I would be glad to be more specific on my explanations. I couldn't even fin d the "Edge-to-Edge Override" option on any of the 4 BRAND NEW printers we just purchased, and the tech from HP said that was not an option on her pri nter either. If this compact flash option is REQUIRED, it would AT LEAST b e nice if that was mentioned in Meditech's documentation so we could correc tly estimate the total cost of moving to an edge-to-edge printer. $3000 is a lot of money to be off by in my opinion...
