That page is also for ODMs and they do care (and a lot) about IPR.
However, I agree that we need to keep ourselves away from the debate
around software patents and any IPR claims made in various courts.

Besides, in this field MeeGo and Android have probably more reasons to
collaborate than to fight. You mention the claims of Oracle but you
should not forget that Apple has filed lawsuits too, targeting Linux and
open source components.

In any case this is not a field you want to enter without having a
lawyer sitting next to you. This is what ODMs are used to do.
