Happy new year everybody!
Just my two cents:
To be a viable platform for Connected TV, Handset, IVI etc. MeeGo must provide the technical means to protect content owned by others. That does not mean that MeeGo itself must provide
I agree, that the platform must provide the technical means to protect the assets and rights of various stakeholders, be that users, content providers, device vendors, etc.

DRM/CA solutions but it must allow DRM/CA solutions that are not part of MeeGo and that are potentially proprietary and closed source to be used with MeeGo. That also includes that MeeGo's licensing must not prevent the use of such solutions. However, MeeGo could choose to
On this one I disagree. Every party can decide for themselves, which platform to cooperate with. If the consumers are using an open-source platform, such a MeeGo, the content providers can decide for themselves to either cooperate and accept an open source DRM, such as Sun's DReaM, or not get paid.

I think what a lot of people disagree with is not the protection of content or other artifacts, but the protection of an outdated business model by obfuscation and proprietary means. This, IMHO, is one of the reasons why Apple's or Google's business models may actually be successful.
