+2 even - I want to be able to be able to use MeeGo powered device as normal 
device without having to run closed source components. For OMAP3 devices it is 
possible, for N900 few critical ones are not opened (but I really doubt that 
nokia will open it - look at 770/n8x0 situation).

Yes - and public git tree with nokia development kernel available. 

N900 still can not be charged when FM transmitter is in use (when you plug 
charger, FMtx switches off). Bug is fixed but not fix available for !nokia.

+1 - there are other Linux phones on a market but usually they are old 
(Openmoko ones uses 2001 gsm modems for example).

6 years as OpenEmbedded developer gave me some knowledge about misc devices 
(ARM mostly). I also have few OMAP3 powered devices on my desk.
