I am not aware of possible engineering issues here, but I think that in MeeGo it is politically incorrect statement to assume that ARCH=x86 is generic default. By following your explanation (earlier on the thread) of the usage of those config files I would assume that ACRH=x86 is specified in architecture specifig config file.
