maybe, I'm not sure, intel guys could answer you. but I know every new cpus keep compatible with i386 since i386 released, no mater the manufacture technics used and what new feature added. the major of IA32 is keep stable for more than 15 years. so if IA is the life of Intel, you can conclude stable is the life of Intel.
