you may have some device or configuration difference between your board and the Z5XX boards the image was tested on. To make progress you will need to start debugging the boot sequence. Edit the boot command line to remove "quiet" and boot to single user mode. Watch the boot progress for errors/hangs. Check out the dmesg log. If you get to single user mode, try startx. if this fails review the xorg log.

Or is it more likely that I should try something else? These are the steps I am completing. 1. Copy meego-1.0-preview-ivi-noemgd-201005121943.iso from .../images/meego-preview-ivi-noemgd-ia32/ 2. $ sudo dd if=meego-1.0-preview-ivi-noemgd-201005121943.iso of=/dev/sdb ... 427819008 bytes (428 MB) copied ... 3. Move the USB stick to the SBC. 4. Powerup of the SBC. 5. Wait (forever) watching the boot splash screen. If I power down the SBC, remove the USB, the power on the SBC, it boots to the normal moblin desktop. USB boot IS enabled in BIOS. I have been able to load the moblin image using a USB stick. The custom system BIOS developed by Eurotech is based on the InsydeH2O core from Insyde Software.
