I checked the wiki page you mentioned, which is a request for a desktop profile
work group ( http://wiki.meego.com/Proposal_for_a_Desktop_Profile_working_group
).

I have installed MeeGo v1.0 for Netbooks
(http://meego.com/downloads/releases/1.0/meego-v1.0-netbooks-google-chrome-browser)
on my workstation, and it runs well! My workstation has an Intel Core 2 CPU,
and a display with 1680 x 1050 resolution.

So perhaps MeeGo for Netbooks can be enhanced to MeeGo for Netbooks/Desktops.
Just my personal thoughts.

Best Regards, Max (Xiaoyang)

Subject: [MeeGo-SDK] Proposal for a Desktop working group.

Hey MeeGo team. I am really new to this level of collaboration, so I hope I
don't step on any toes.

I was going over the Wiki today and I saw a page that is a request for a
Desktop work group. I wanted to point out some market aspects and
considerations for what I am perceiving the MeeGo project to comprise.

Some market aspects, first, would be Net Tops. eMachines is a company to really
look at. They design desktop tops that work with the Atom processor. Sadly,
many of them run XP. The second aspect would be the mini desktops. Dell's
Studio Hybrid, and Apple's Mac Mini.

I wanted to point these two out and then move to some considerations. The way I
see the MeeGo project moving is a new core design with portability in mind. I
may be wrong, but I am perceiving that MeeGo will have a core that is common on
all devices, the bigger computers may have more, and this core is portable that
can fit in a designed UI.

With those considerations, Net tops fit into a 'consumer' level computer. The
kind of computer you buy just to write, email, do some browsing ... and then
the mini desktops fall into the 'power' / 'gaming' computer level. It's going
to be more fully featured, running a light and fast OS, and will soon have
Steam.

If MeeGo does decide to go with a desktop work group ... that's my viewer input
on the desktop market for this niche.
