Hi,

While browsing the forums, I came across a thread[1] raising an
interesting subject - that of design changes, in this particular case,
a design change was suggested to the handset UX[2], and rejected,
because (to quote): "Making this change would require additional
implementation work and would move the Homeui out of scope of the
design documentation as provided by Nokia."

This raises a few questions for me. While I don't want to pick on the
person who handled this particular bug, as no doubt, this is down to
policy, I think there are a few things that could do with clarifying.

Firstly: where is the referenced design documentation?

If there are specifications, then I think that they should ideally be
somewhere public, so they can be seen, discussed, clarified, and kept
up to date as necessary.

Secondly: what is the process for changes to design? It seems a little
odd that a bug can be marked WONTFIX because it requires design change
in an open project.

(It should also be noted: I completely agree that commercial partners
to MeeGo are free to not implement such suggestions on their [paid]
time, but this should not preclude volunteers - or equally, other
partners - from stepping up and having a crack, so I fail to see why
additional implementation could be a hurdle)
