Hi!
Hi!
I noticed my name was missing on your list. Perhaps that's a good thing!
Or not... :)
* Could you tell us something about yourself and your background
before coming into MeeGo?
I'm a MeeGo Distribution lead / Developer for the MeeGo Core
Distribution Team at Intel.
I've worked on various Moblin 2 Core pieces in the past such as the
fastboot stuff, I maintain powertop together with Arjan, etc.. I've done
kernel development for Intel in the past as well.
* What kind of work you do in MeeGo and how do you hope to evolve your area?
The MeeGo distribution team members here work mostly on the x86 releases
for MeeGo. Part of my team are Chris Ferron (handset) and Priya, who
releases the netbook images, to name a few.
The team here plays a critical role here in between development and
integration of features, drivers etc in the core distribution which is
cross platform. We're trying to make sure the Core parts in MeeGo is
developed going forward to meet all the needs and requirements that
everyone has. We play close attention to bug reports and a big role in
what ends up in the MeeGo repositories, and how.
I also personally have an interest in l10n since my native language is
Dutch, so I help out Margie Foster with l10n issues and stuff.
On top of that I work with Ryan Ware, our security person, and Adam
Gretzinger, our resident BOFH (a really nice guy actually), to make sure
the MeeGo (build, others) infrastructure is up and running.
* How would you suggest to a contributor wanting to get into your area
of MeeGo, how they could get involved?
Several ways:
- fix bugs. There are a ton of bugs! We'd love to see fixes. While we're
trying hard to fix stuff ourselves, there's so much more that needs help.
- translate.
- document. The wiki is doing pretty good though!
- help. Go to the forum and try and help people.
- test. Make your own MeeGo images, tell us if things don't work.
there is so much work to do.
Cheers,
Auke Kok
