<Maemo Community Council member hat> I can't stress enough the importance of this if MeeGo wants to attract current Maemo developers or appear as any sort of evolutionary next step to them. We're (maemo.org) already (running dangerously close to) bleeding devs to other platforms, and if Fremantle (and, more importantly, Harmattan) are shut out, I fear that will run the risk of ignorement of OBS and mainline MeeGo until Nokia ships a device that utilizes OBS, which might take a while. I fully understand the importance of (and support) keeping things clean and Free, but be aware of the price both Maemo and MeeGo will be paying. David already talked about the special case of Fremantle and Harmattan both existing in some form when MeeGo was announced - and while I agree this is the classic grandfather clause, I would like to ask everyone to think it through from the aspect of developer community continuity before they say yes or no. Do policies determine our goals or do our goals determine our policies ? </Maemo Community Council member hat> Best regards, Attila _______________________________________________ MeeGo-dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev
