Hello list. This mail might seem a bit off-topic. But I don't know a better place to find the answers I need than from the people who is daily dealing with this.

I'm following the evolution of the project. I'm also looking forward the time to renew my phone and start doing cool things with it. This will happen in 2-3 months. Of course, the phone I'm looking to is the N900. But since I can't try any other's N900 (it seems to be quite unusual around where I live) there is no way to have a real feeling about how it behaves.

I'm a developer and a Linux lover. The idea of having a Linux in your hands is really appealing. So, initially I'm eager to order the phone but I'd like to clarify the following doubts.

Being Meego a linux and not just a linux-based os like Android, does it mean that you will have everything you'd find in a standard linux? Especially interests are in developing tools (gcc, g++, ssh). Will it be possible to write and compile (Qt) programs in the phone or it must be via cross-compiling?

Regarding the phone. I look for information about the multitouch support. The information I find is a bit confusing. Sometimes it says that the N900 can't support multitouch sometimes I find that Nokia is about to release a multi-touch version. What to believe?

Anyway, from the information still unclear whether N900 can't support multi-touch because the resistive screen or for something else. I guess that if it is a software issue then we can hope that multi-touch support will come at some point (?). Could someone elaborate a bit this?

If N900 is definitely not multi-touch, what are the meego/maemo alternatives, if any, having a QWERTY keyboard too?

Thanks for your comments. This project is extremely seducing ;-)
