Thanks for the info Vivian. Enhancements sound fine, but doesn't it mean
that you have pushed a package that bases on enhancement branch into
Meego with a generic name and meaning ? From the name, I assumed that it
might be the base for our work too. At same time gst-plugins-bad-free
was patched with camerabin support, which we are about to use also and
perfectly defined by Meego already. And these aren't the only open
camera issues waiting for steering from behalf of Meego.
So moreover, we would like to hear your thoughts about the solution you
are heading for Meego 1.2. Syncing up would help Meego here, since
officially the camera subsystem is still in-definition while actions
towards the unknown are already happening.
As said previously, we (n900 adaptation workers) have made patches
against gst-nokia-videosrc. Mainly to build its subdevsrc element
without closed-source dependencies and to have a base for the targetted
camera stack in Meego. It currently supports no more that raw viewfinder
mode, but it is a start. A start, to enable camera features in Nokia N900.
To bring this feature up to qmf-level, we also have a small patch to
enable camerabin with subdevsrc in qt-mobility.

It appears that the head of upstream qt-mobility already uses subdevsrc
but the one in Meego 1.1.0-beta2 does not. Now, if Intel plans to use
camerabin through qt-mobility -- we need to collaborate some
generalization at that level. Or hear somebody who is ahead of this
already.

Hello,
I've been working with camera stack for Meego/N900. Recently the
gst-v4l2-camsrc was added to meego obs and I was a little confused about
the naming and different affiliations of the project.
However, I assume kind of generalization is about to happen with v4l2
subdev& mediacontroller api's, but I would be delighted if someone
could sync me up to the work and roadmap of previously committed projects.
I have build modified gst-nokia-videosrc project in my obs home
(home:teemu.tuominen) for Meego/N900 to gain raw viewfinder mode through
gst components (camerabin, subdevsrc). Is gst-v4l2-camsrc now the place
to add such patches ?
