I found out that my .bashrc had an alias: alias qmake='mad -t meego-core-ia32-1.1 qmake' defined that overrid any PATH settings. Unfortunately I did not see that alias earlier, and command 'which qmake' also lied to me...
Next time use the command : 'type qmake'
