>> Can some one from Nokia explain the future plans for Meego on Nokia ?? I think dead spoken people live longer. MeeGo definately has a future. Mr. Elop has not provided it. He is an analyst and brings in his history network, an alliance of the weak without spirit. Mr. Torres joined in June 2010 and had half a year to try his luck, short time though, but not impossible, but he did not had luck, he is a consultant and someone who love the arts. No technician and no pioneer, which have no spirit for contemplatio and hedonism. Nokia is split into two organizational devisions now, while meego is under the same roof as windows phone mobiles, this can result in a competition effect or an override, so the question is indeed, how much employees work on meego, as the head of meego changes as well - and I guess not due to minor performance, but due to strategic intent - the teams can make a party for a meego phone release - but nothing more. so slow death. But well.. it depends on how each individual reacts and says yes I want a working meego system out or not. If it s good, and a good start of the sattelite, no contaminated ground has been made. The open source community will buy it. In may Michael Dell releases 5" Dell Streak Phone with Dual Core Processor, that might be a good ressource to get the MeeGo OS on it, if this time they do not make the mistake, that the closed source driver of the streak are incompatible with MeeGo, Mr. Dell please check before. So... MeeGo is Open.. get it... and make it running on other mobile phones than nokia, I really wounder, why not yet another supplier has offered a MeeGo Phone... The task now is for software developers, to find suppliers to release a phone hardware. The approach in the future is so or so, to have different Operating Systems on the Hardware installable. Third Party hardware Manufacturers will provide Hardware, which will run with mobiel phone OS, the user will play on the computer, like we do with normal laptops or desktops as well. So my question is just: Why should be a mobile handheld computer be different from a laptop or phone? The Samsung 7 " Galaxy Pad is a Phone too.. this hybrid tablet phone (or dell streak) are an ideal target for MeeGo... And if nokia is not making it, I think Intel will release a phone.. wasn´t it so, that at nokia someone had to leave, because he slept over the new age of touch displays.. ? Why should intel not realize, that computers are today handhelds? Think they know a lot of suppliers, which can bring out a mobile phone computer with any supplier form asia. Mr. Elop is wrong, he does not know the Qt Apps, which would be a powerful tool for MeeGo Phones... Why did Nokia merged Trolltech? to merge with Microsoft? Interesting will be as well the reaction of google, if it will acquire HTC then or Nokia itself, to make microsoft weaker.. But that is the long run view, for now, the MeeGo developers need a GO to release the hardware, to get motivated to get the door open. The whole team can to that like windows has done a shortterm release with basic functions. It already was a nokia failure to not release N900 with a dual boot, symbian and meego. Mr. Elop has not understood to integrate, to integrate Qt, to integrate MeeGo into the bunch of old OS like Symbian, to integrate hardware development into software development, to integrate the need of young speedy and fleyible and pushy people into the older aged employees and to implement new structures of leadership into structures, which need a calm down. A change of generation is needed for Nokia, and that is not done with external partners like Microsoft. The burning oil platform as a vision means run run run away from nokia, several days later even more: Meego will be replaced. He is the wron CEO! What does Exypery say: show them not how to ship or sail, but tell them your love of sea? That is the success of Mr. Jobs, presenting the tiny little ideas his team has come up with. Burn Nokia Burn, Burn again like closing the plant in Bochum and going to Romania! How hard must the meego team be disappointed. I bought a Nokia N900 yes, but never will buy one, especially with microsoft on it, I had that already. But I will give Nokia a chance with a meego phone. that are my 500 Euros, i will spend on it. Its hard to motivate the meego developers now, but they get money and will finish it, but the struggle is now, to have not nokia making only one phone for meego, but to get other suppliers in competition, and yes, a hack of another hardware for meego would be the fastest way to bring an .ISO Install file out without having framework agreements with foxconn or other suppliers, though of course a letter to Michael Dell or Samsung or Tablet developers to include mobile phone capabilities would be good. Keep the eyes open for a 5 " or 7 " device and release release release... MeeGo needs no a Door Opener, when the door is open, the community will steer it.. So get the software on the hardware, even when Mr. Elop does not want to provide any Hardware. The full N-Series, high end business phones - has been promised to be soon equipped with meego. Mr. Elop broke it, made all the investment worthless. How can this be a trusted, continuously and sustainable longterm partnership? Are we in a curry sausage shop? He is burning down the company instead of confirming the good initiatives. I dont trust him, because there is still no due date for a meego phone release. Intel announced the tablet release for June after the discussion on this mailing list. So I guess this is the right place to a) encourage people working on open source b) to find friends for porting meego to other hardware than nokia c) to motivate competitors of nokia to bring out a meego phone before nokia can do. Nike had the slogan: Just do it. meego´s slogan would be: DO WHAT NOKIA CAN´T DO!
