The whole tracker team is working in the upstream repo [1], bugzilla [2] and mailing list [3] and so far we haven't receive any feedback about those performance issues. Lets use upstream as a communication channel in the benefit of everybody. Before taking any more drastic decisions, please keep us in the loop. It would be nice to have the chance to solve the problems and improve our code (active developers are working on it 8 hours per day!), instead of receiving the decisions out of the blue without any option to defend ourselves. Not that the reasoning was wrong, but comes too late when we cannot do anything.
